Using a wordprocessor to highlight
wordgroups
Description
A very effective way to teach or to
reinforce wordgroups to a whole class is to use a wordprocessor.
It helps if you have a data projector linked to a laptop but it
works just as well if you move your class computer next to the
carpet area.
Use the computer as you would a black/white
board or flip chart and type out some sentences either before or
during the lesson. Make sure you use a large and friendly font.
Use the "highlight" and "colour" facilities to draw attention to
your chosen word groups.
There are a number of advantages for using a
wordprocessor over a more conventional method:
- The work can be saved and used the next
time you are teaching this topic
- The work can be printed and used as a
worksheet for children to highlight the chosen
wordgroups
- Small groups of children can use the file
as a learning resource with an adult helper if
necessary
