Searching in Encarta
Encarta uses something called Pinpointer to help you search.
- Select

Encarta places the Pinpointer on the screen. |

- Type in your topic
Keep your topic to one key word - a person, a place As you type, Encarta might jump to that topic in its list

You may need to look along the list to see your entry. When you find it, select it! |

Copying pictures from Encarta
- Make sure you have your document ready in your word processor
- Minimise your word processor
- Find your picture

- Encarta will remove the menus from the screen and place a copy of your picture in its memory
- Minimise Encarta by selecting this button
- Restore your word processor by selecting its button from the taskbar at the bottom of the screen

It might look like this: |

- Click in your document where you want the picture to be pasted
- Select Edit
- Select Paste
- Press right direction key to move the cursor outside the picture. This will ensure you do not paste over your picture with another one
- If you want to copy another picture, then minimise the word processor and restore Encarta by selecting its button from the
|
Taskbar. It should look like this: |

Copying text from Encarta
- Make sure you have your document ready in your word processor
- Minimise your word processor
- Find your entry (this example uses the Beatles)
Select some text
For example .
Use the bar pointer to select text.
If it is difficult to select, start at the end and go back to the beginning.
- Select Options
- Encarta places this menu on the screen:
- Select Copy
- Encarta places this menu on the screen:
- Select Text Selection
- Minimise Encarta by selecting this button
- Restore your word processor by selecting its button from the taskbar at the bottom of the screen
It might look like this:
- Click in your document where you want the text to be pasted
- Select Edit and then Paste
- If you want to copy more text, then minimise the word processor and restore Encarta by selecting its button from the Taskbar.
It should look like this:
