Internet links
There is a lot of information on the Internet, but you can spend an inordinate amount of time searching for it. In general, if you have one good Internet address for any particular area of interest, it will give you links to just about every other Internet address that you could want in that area. The following are good starter addresses which will help you to find resources, publishers, foreign language newspapers, reviews, help lines etc. You can quickly reach all these sites via one site, such as BECTa, but you will find out more about each site if you visit the individual 'home pages'.

You will also find further annotated links on the MFL Resources section of the Conference area.

CILT
Centre for Information on Language Teaching and Research

An excellent source for information on all aspects of language teaching, not just for ICT information. CILT publishes most of its ICT material on its Lingu@net site, which has a separate address (see below).

http://www.cilt.org.uk/

BECTa
British Educational Communications and Technology agency

A very comprehensive source of information on all aspects of using ICT in teaching and learning. The home page has a direct link to the NGfL and the VTC (see below), which is now the home for much of BECTa's material. You can get to the CD-ROM reviews mentioned in the text via the heading 'Resources', where there is also a direct link to Lingu@net.

NGfL
National Grid for Learning

The government sponsored site. There is a direct link to the VTC (see below), while the map on the home page gives you easy access to the SVTC and NINE, the Scottish and Northern Irish equivalent sites.

VTC
Virtual Teacher Centre

This site carries a wealth of information on the use of ICT in teaching and learning, with a whole section of 'Curriculum IT Support' for MFL and IT (and other subjects) under the 'Resources' heading. The CD-ROM reviews can also be accessed from here.

Schools on line (Broken link?)
This site is part of Ultralab, which is a fascinating site for all aspects of using ICT in education, including a very detailed section for MFL teachers. It is worth browsing from the home page to see the wealth of information and opinion available, but you can go straight to the MFL home page by typing in the longer address.

There are of course many other sites worth visiting, and you will soon find them via the above pages or via one of the many 'search engines' available on the Web. You'll soon find your way to the BBC and RM, or to the Internet editions of internationally renowned newspapers. To help you on your voyage of discovery, here are a few more very useful sites.
